UGANDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

PROGRAM

URDT Board of Directors and Senior Management Retreat.

URDT held a board of directors and senior management retreat from 6th to 7th February 2019. The retreat was held with the goal to streamline URDT governance and management structures to enhance teamwork and efficiency at all levels.

MWALIMU MUSHESHE CHAIRMAN BOARD URDT FACILITATING DURING THE RETREAT

During the retreat Mwalimu Musheshe, the Chairman Board and founder of URDT clearly explained the key purposes as to why the organization was started.

Managers were encouraged to shift from Oscillating structures to Advancing structures:

a structure is an entity (such as an organization) made up of individual elements or parts (such as people, resources, aspirations, values, market trends, levels of competence, reward systems, departmental mandates, capital, workload/capacity relationships, and so on) that impact each other by the relationships they form.

The structure at play in a person's life or an organization causes one of two types of behavior – oscillation or advancement.

With oscillation, the tendency is to swing back and forth between competing goals such as change and stability or short- and long-term growth. If there is advancement, the tendency is to consistently move forward with each achievement serving as a foundation for further achievements.

By examining the structures in play and utilizing the creative process, you can replace your oscillating structures with advancing ones.

HERBERT TUMUHIMBISE THE CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER GIVING OPENING REMARKS

The Senior Management team members were encouraged to stick on the principles of creating and uphold the Structural Tension Chart as a planning framework in all the work that is being done.
